The State of Alabama is truly blessed with an abundance and variety of energy resources. To properly manage and use these energy resources industry leaders, government officials, teachers/students, and the general public must become more familiar with what Alabama’s energy resources are, where they are located, in what quantity they occur, and how they may be developed to provide the greatest utilization in the future. The following list of sites will help provide useful information on Alabama’s energy resources.
- U.S. Department of Energy—Alabama Energy Data, includes profiles, consumption, prices, sales, and stocks on total energy, petroleum, natural gas, electricity, coal and nuclear reactors in the state.
- Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, Science, Technology and Energy Division—Alabama conservation programs.
- Alabama Surface Mining Home Page—Contains staff listing, map of Alabama coal fields, coal mining regulations and permit applications currently under review.
- Geological Survey of Alabama—A data gathering and research agency that explores and evaluates the mineral, water, energy, biological, and other natural resources of the State of Alabama and conducts basic and applied research in these fields as a public service to citizens of the State.
- Oil and Gas Board of Alabama—The Board is a regulatory agency of the State of Alabama with the statutory charge of preventing waste and promoting the conservation of oil and gas while insuring the protection of both the environment and the correlative rights of owners.
