The following are some good lesson plans to implement while reading One World:

Concepts: air/water pollution, preserving ecosystems, oil pollution

Discuss how a single drop of oil can pollute an entire water supply and discuss the proper disposal of oil (See links below).
Compare this book with other nature books that show “pristine” environments and discuss how pollution could be effecting these as well.
Discuss what the sign “take only photographs, leave only footprints” seen at many of our state and national parks means. Create a photo journal of a nature outing.
Explore through Earth 911 what you can do to keep our air and water clean (see links below).
