  • Recycled Fridge Art Contest Winners Announced


    In case you missed the Recycle My Old Fridge exhibit at Washington D.C.’s National Building Museum last month, pictures of the winning designs have been posted online.

  • World Water Monitoring “Day” Starts Today


    The EPA is kicking off a month of celebration to monitor the Earth’s water supply with a World Water Monitoring Day event today at Hains Point Park in Washington, DC.

  • GW University Holds Contest to Redesign Recycling Trucks


    From now until October 15, George Washington University (GW) is offering a contest to redesign the images on its recycling trucks that will promote the recycling message on campus.

    The contest is only open to GW students and student organizations. To enter, a CD with a design in Illustrator, Corel Draw or Photo Shop format is required.

    Washington DC’s National Building Museum has a new exhibit with an old theme: obsolete refrigerators have been transformed into works of art that will be on display through September 2.

  • DC Provides Recycling Bins on Streets


    Downtown Washington DC is going green by adding some blue, as in 25 blue bins where people can drop off their paper and drink containers for recycling.

    The bins are in highly trafficked areas of the city between Judiciary and McPhearson Squares, and are part of a six-month pilot program set up by the city and the American Beverage Association. Bins continue …

  • Massachusetts Man Hikes for E-Waste Recycling


    Starting July 9, a Marblehead resident will hike 775 miles from Burlington, Vermont to Washington, D.C. with a backpack full of used electronics to promote the issue of recycling e-waste.

    Donating your cell phone from now through October can save more than just landfill space.
