World Water Monitoring “Day” Starts Today
The EPA is kicking off a month of celebration to monitor the Earth’s water supply with a World Water Monitoring Day event today at Hains Point Park in Washington, DC.
World Water Monitoring Day begins a month-long effort to promote awareness of water monitoring, as well as the anniversary of the signing of the Clean Water Act on September 18, 1972.
Last year, there were more than 46,000 participants testing water quality in 43 countries, including 21,000 in the U.S. alone. The program aims to reach one million people in 100 countries by 2012.
