ACRC to Celebrate Recycling 100 Million Pounds of Pesticide Containers
The Ag Container Recycling Council (ACRC) is preparing to celebrate collecting over 100,000,000 pounds of triple-rinsed pesticide containers, according to The Tidewater News.
The national organization will hold its celebration at its largest collection facility in Southampton County Fairgrounds in Courtland, Va.
ACRC specializes in the collection of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic agricultural and specialty pesticide containers. The recycled plastic from the program is made into products like field drain tiles, artificial lumber and underground utility conduits.
The ACRC began its collection and recycling program in 1992, calling it “arguably the oldest industry product stewardship initiative in the U.S.” By collecting this hazardous waste, ACRC seeks to promote enviornmental responsibility, conservation of resources and proper disposal and managament of hazardous materials.
