OH County Purchases Recycling Center
In Ohio, Lucas County officials hope to save money with a recently-purchased recycling center in North Toledo, reports The Blade.
By owning the property, the county will now be able to run the center itself, rather than paying to use a private facility.
County Sanitary Engineer Jim Shaw said once the recycling center is in use, it will save the Lucas County Solid Waste District about $150,000 to $200,000 annually.
The county is planning various improvements to the facility, including making it single-stream capable. Single-steam recycling generally inspires more participation than when residents have to separate the materials.
