Albuquerque Hosts Free Electronics Recycling Event

Following the success of an electronic recycling event in April that recycled 500,000 pounds of electronics, the city of Albuquerque is hosting a free electronics collection drive for residents and small businesses on August 22-23.

The event is a partnership between the city and Intel New Mexico, Natural Evolution and KOAT-TV. Commercial recycling will take place on August 22 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Residents can bring their obsolete electronics the following day from 8:00 a.m-2:00 p.m.

Accepted items include:

  • Computers, monitors and accessories
  • Office-related equipment
  • Telephones/cell phones
  • Cameras
  • Stereo equipment

Televisions and household appliances will not be accepted. Items will be accepted at a parking lot south of Balloon Fiesta Park.

The city is also launching a pilot program for year-round electronics recycling at Eagle Rock Convenience Center. Use Earth911 to find a location to recycle electronics no matter where you live.
