Toner Company Offers Soy-Based Cartridges
Offices and schools will soon be able to print in-house using soy-based ink as a new laser print cartridge using soy powder hits the market.
The new product is called SoyPrint, and manufacturer PRC Technologies says that in months of tests the cartridges have equaled petroleum-based ones on print quality and pages per cartridge.
Most newspapers are currently printed using soy-based ink, with several eco-friendly benefits:
- It reduces the demand of petroleum, a non-renewable energy source
- Soy-based ink allows paper to be recycled, because the ink won’t be toxic to your pile
No matter what type of cartridge your printer uses, you can save waste by refilling and recycling your cartridges. Use Earth911 to find out where to refill and recycle ink cartridges near you.
