Republican National Convention to Recycle
by Trey Granger on August 8th, 2008
Red states may rule at the Republican National Convention, but this year’s event in Minneapolis is adding a little “green” with the addition of nearly 300 recycling stations throughout the Xcel Energy Center.
The bins will be single-stream, allowing participants to recycle aluminum, glass, paper and plastic in one container. Recyclables will then be collected and sorted by Waste Management, who is providing the service along with Coca-Cola Recycling LLC. Bottles and cans will be shipped to the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Eagan, Minn.
The convention will run from September 1-4. The city of Denver has already committed to making the Democratic National Convention the “greenest in history.”
