High Steel Prices Inspire Texans to Recycle Their Junk
Citizens in central Texas are recycling more steel junk than ever, reports The Temple Daily Telegraph.
The motivation is not only environmental, but economical. Farmers are receiving big bucks for old farming equipment.
Business is exploding for Billy Bachmayer, the owner of a 20-acre recycling facility. The 50 employees at Temple Iron and Metal Co. are working overtime just to keep up. The operation recycles about 10 million pounds of steel per month.
The price increase is due to the heightened demand for steel, especially from countries like China and India.
