Connecticut Latest to Join the Single-Stream Trend
A new, single-stream recycling program will make it easier to be green for the residents of about 70 towns and cities in the Hartford, Connecticut area, reports the Associated Press.
The state trash agency, the Connecticut Resources Recovery authority, is spending $3 million to convert the Hartford recycling system to single-stream, meaning residents will no longer have to separate recyclables.
Not only will recycling be simplified, but people will also be able to recycle more under the new program. The current 14-gallon bins will be switched to 64-gallon barrels.
Switching to single-stream often increases recycling rates.
