New Recycled Plastic and Glass Pavement Hits the Streets
FilterPave, a new pavement system made from recycled Post-Crescent.
The patented pavement was developed by Presto Products Co. Geosystems, which plans to market it as an environmentally friendly alternative to asphalt and concrete. Up close, it looks like rock candy, according to the Crescent.
FilterPave was used for two projects: a residential driveway, and a downtown patio for the company Future Neenah Inc. Several developers, contractors and consumers came to observe.
FilterPave has two additional benefits over concrete. Because it is porous, it allows stormwater to filter into the ground, reducing runoff. It also absorbs engine oil and transmission fluid leaked by vehicles, holding them for biological digestion, reducing pollution.
