Celebrate Clean Beaches Week by Recycling
by Trey Granger on July 1st, 2008
Today marks the annual National Clean Beaches Week, which runs through July 7, and the EPA’s top recommendation for how to celebrate is by recycling and preventing trash from becoming marine debris.
Other ways to make sure trash doesn’t end up in the water, according to the EPA:
- Avoid pouring anything down a storm drain
- Use reusable bags instead of disposable bags
- Choose products with less packaging when possible
Use Earth 911 to find a recycling center near your local beach. You can use Earth 911’s sister site, Beaches911.com, to find out whether or not your local beach has been closed because of water quality issues.
