Restaurants to Convert Used Oil into Biodiesel Fuel
Libby Hill Seafood and Patriot Biodiesel in North Carolina have partnered to convert used cooking oil from the restaurants into biodiesel fuel, reports MSNBC.
The waste vegetable oil will be refined into B-100, which is pure biodiesel. The fuel will be used to power Libby Hill’s six trucks.
The move will be both environmentally and economically beneficial to the restaurants. Justin Conrad, Libby Hill president, said he estimated that the program will save the company several hundred gallons of fuel each month. “This endeavor is an opportunity to make a positive impact, in our own small way, on our environment,” Conrad told MSNBC.
