Teen Uses Plastic for Art
Eighteen-year-old Dasha Krivosheeva transforms ordinary plastic bags into elaborate, three-dimensional paintings, reports the Frederick News Post.
The Russian teen, living in Frederick, Maryland, began using plastic bags in her art about two years ago. She begins by cutting pieces of the bag and folding them into shapes such as flowers petals. After gluing the pieces to a canvas, she paints them with acrylic paint, sometimes adding details with beads or yarn.
Krivosheeva has already sold one painting on eBay. She told the News Post that she would like to make a living selling her work.
In August, Krivosheeva will return to Russia to attend art school in Saratov, but she would like to return to Frederick and continue her work in the U.S. after graduation.
