Liberty Property Recycles 80,000 Pounds of Electronics
by Earth 911 on May 21st, 2008
What do real estate and obsolete electronics have in common? For Liberty Property Trust, the connection was strong enough to hold an electronics recycling drive that kept almost 80,000 pounds of electronics out of landfills.
The program was launched on Earth Day at six different Liberty Property locations. Tenants and employees brought in office equipment for recycling. The goal was 60,000 pounds, but the company’s headquarters in Malvern, Pa. was able to recycle 20,000 pounds on its own.
The electronics were then recycled by New Jersey-based electronic recycler Hesstech. There’s no word yet as to whether Liberty Property is planning to hold the collection again next year.
If you’re looking to recycle an old electronic device, find a drop-off location near you using Earth 911’s recycling locator.
