Recycling Big on the Big Island
by Ashley Schiller on May 16th, 2008
Sony Hawaii and Recycle Hawaii are teaming up to promote recycling broken or worn-down electronic devices such as Walkmans, radios, TVs and recorders, according to AP.
The first stations will be set up in the cities of Kona and Hilo, on the Big Island. Donating Sony products will be free, but there will be a charge for non-Sony items.
The national plan is to have a recycling center within 20 miles of 95 percent of the citizens, Sony Hawaii President Ned Nomura told AP.
