Omaha Sanitation Service To Offer Recycling Rewards

For residents in Omaha, NE, recycling not only preserves the environment, but now fattens the participant’s billfold as well.

Due to a new partnership between Elkhorn Sanitation Service and RecycleBank, households will earn points based on the weight of recyclables in their 96-gallon cart. Each cart is equipped with a special chip that tracks the weight, according to the ESS Web site.

Points are redeemed for rewards with participating businesses, including Hy-Vee, Bed Bath and Beyond, Blimpie and Coca-Cola.

This is just the latest development by RecycleBank, which is looking to expand its services nationwide.

To find a curbside recycling program in your area, use Earth 911’s recycling locator.
