by Earth 911 on March 31st, 2008
The Washington Post reports on the two-month scrap metal recycling competition currently underway to encourage Montgomery County residents to recycle their household metals.
Two different sites have been collecting metals since March 1, and the bins will be weighed on April 18. Items composed of at least 50 percent metal will be accepted and recycled, including:
- Household appliances
- Nails/screws
- Keys
- Bicycles
- Scissors
The two participating neighborhoods have about 1,200 households. The winner will be announced on April 27.
