Verizon Wireless Recycles Phones for Domestic Violence Victims
by Earth 911 on March 28th, 2008
You can recycle your old cell phones using Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine program to raise money for victims of domestic violence.
Simply drop off your obsolete phone, regardless of provider, at a Verizon Wireless store throughout the nation. These phones will then be recycled to keep hazardous materials like mercury out of landfills.
Since 2001 through HopeLine:
- 4.5 million phones have been donated
- $5 million in cash grants has been distributed to domestic violence prevention and awareness programs
- More than 200 tons of electronic waste and batteries have been kept out of landfills
To find a location in your area to recycle a cellular phone, use Earth 911’s recycling locator.
