Staples Copy & Print Centers Go Green

The Boston Business Journal reports that Staples’ Copy & Print Centers is the first national print/copying company to use recycled paper as a standard product for high-speed jobs.
Staples currently has 1,400 Copy & Print Centers across the nation. The recycled paper will be used for black-and-white printing and copying.
The paper has been certified as recycled content by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Staples is looking to move a majority of its paper products to FSC-certified by the end of 2010.
As of 2006, about 30 percent of the paper products sold in Staples stores is post-consumer recycled content. That is a 10 percent increase over 2003.

Good job, Staples! Every time a company makes steps to cut back on paper waste it’s a step in the right direction. For those of us who print at home, though, you can reduce paper waste by downloading this software called GreenPrint. It allows you to eliminate unwanted pages prior to printing, you can decide what you want to print and you can cut out those annoying leftover orphan pages. Best of all their “World” version is free.
