The EPA has developed a list of 104 possible drinking water contaminants that may need to be regulated to protect our drinking water, which is currently available for public comment.

This Contaminant Candidate List (CCL) includes 93 chemicals and 11 microbes that are not listed in the current Maximum Contaminant List (MCL). The EPA researched over 7,500 chemicals to decide on 104. It has evaluated the health effects of these contaminants, which include pesticides, biological toxins and waterborne pathogens.

The comment period is open for 90 days. For other ways to protect your water supply, check out Earth 911’s Water Conservation page.
