New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has joined with the ReMix: Recycling Magazines is Excellent campaign to increase residential recycling of magazines and catalogs in the city.
The promotion will be kicked-off next week with $3 million in media placements ranging from national magazines like TIME and Sports Illustrated to public transportation banners to cable and television spots.
ReMix has found that although 95 percent of unsold publications are recycled, participation is only 17 percent for those that are sold. ReMix currently has pilot programs in Boston, Prince George’s County, Maryland, Milwaukee and Portland, Oregon.
