Pennsylvania Waste Hauler Offers Free Recycling
by Earth 911 on January 28th, 2008
The Altoona Mirror reports that starting February 1, Bedford County will offer curbside recycling as part of its trash pick-up, as the county currently relies on a volunteer-run recycling drop-off center.
Burgmeier Hauling, which handles Bedford’s trash collection, has purchased two new trucks that are equipped with recycling compartments. The state was denied several recycling grants for containers; Pennsylvania recently offered $20 million in grants for county recycling programs.
Bedford representatives say that recycling aluminum, oil and paper are most beneficial to the county because the profits from these materials offset costs of recycling.
