E-waste Recycling to Start Without Processing
Nova Scotia News reports that starting February 1, the province will be banning electronic waste from landfills, even though there are currently no plants set up to process e-waste.
Nova Scotia is planning to build two or three facilities by summer, which will be able to remove batteries. Until these are built, the products will be collected at e-waste depots that have yet to be announced.
It will be the fourth Canadian province to develop an electronics recycling system, following Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. These provinces could receive some of Nova Scotia’s electronics until processing plants are set up.
