AZCentral.com posts a warning to residents of Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, Arizona that their tap water might be contaminated with Trichloroethylene (TCE), a potentially toxic chemical that affects the central nervous system.

The TCE outbreak affects customers of Arizona American Water, which is not affiliated with the City of Scottsdale. The problem should be cleared up by Friday at 5 p.m., but residents are being advised not to drink or use tap water for preparing food until then.

Free bottled water is available at Paradise Valley Town Hall. For more on the effects that chemicals can have on the water supply, visit Earth 911’s Water page.

In many places bottled water is not regulated and it has been found that it is often just filtered tap water anyway, so they might want to check where the bottled water is coming from too
