The EPA today released a plan to reduce runoff and sewer overflows with green infrastructure including green roofs, trees and tree boxes, rain gardens, and porous pavements.

This infrastructure helps limit the amount of water and pollutants that are deposited into storm drains and, ultimately, fresh water sources. In addition to water conservation, green infrastructure can improve air quality and save energy.

The plan explains how states, municipalities, permitting authorities, and non-governmental organizations can use green infrastructure practices to meet water quality goals while sustaining their water infrastructure.

About time! The EPA has the power to do so much more. I’m for business and people. We need to start thinking that this planet is all of ours to protect and insure for the next generations.
