Panasonic, Sharp and Toshiba have teamed up to create Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Company, LLC (MRM), a company that will provide cost effective e-waste recycling services to manufacturers.
The program began in Minnesota, which recently passed e-waste collection laws. It will soon work with local and state governments nationwide to facilitate e-waste collection programs.
MRM has already partnered with Hitachi, JVC, Mitsubishi, Philips, Pioneer, Sanyo and Olevia, and has already collected 750 tons of electronics in five months since the Minnesota law was passed.
