Local Bars, Restaurants Deal With Costs of Recycling

The Twin Cities Daily Planet reports that bars and restaurants near the University of Minnesota campus are less inclined to recycle beverage containers, even though some go through as much as 400 bottles per night on a weekend.
Owners of the restaurants say that the primary reason they don’t recycle is that the cost of doing so is too high, and students seem to be more concerned with lower prices on drinks than recycling practices.
The city’s waste-management company claims the opposite, that businesses are charged fewer fees for recycling than solid waste.
