Free Tuolumne County Oil Filter Exchange Event
by Mark Rappaport on November 9th, 2007
Do you change your own oil? Do you have used oil filters? Did you know that you can recycle them along with your motor oil at AutoZone?
Bring your used oil filter to AutoZone in Sonora on Tuesday, November 13 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and receive a FREE oil & filter recycling container and $6 off your purchase of a new oil filter! It’s that easy! The FREE container and filter offer is valid only for the specified date, time, and place listed, so bring your oil filter in on Tuesday! Offer is limited to the first 50 individuals.
Oil filters should never be thrown in the trash because they can contain one pint to one quart of used oil. Even if properly drained, a filter can still contain two to eight ounces of used oil. The steel in used oil filters can be recycled to make new steel products, such as cans, cars, appliances, and construction rebar. Recycling all the filters sold annually in the United States would result in the recovery of about 160,000 tons of steel, or enough steel to make 16 new stadiums the size of Atlanta’s Olympic Stadium.
You can recycle your used oil & oil filters at AutoZone FREE everyday. Auto Zone is located at 1091 Sanguinetti Road in Sonora and can be contacted at (209) 588-0180. For more information about oil and filter recycling residents can call Tuolumne County Solid Waste at (209) 533-5588.
This program is sponsored by Tuolumne County and the Rural Counties’ Environmental Services Joint Powers Authority (ESJPA). Funded by a Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. Zero Waste—You Make It Happen!
