Swap Shop to Encourage Reuse
A new reuse station dubbed the Swap Shop opened this week in Victor, New York, reports The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
The Swap Shop is located next to the town’s trash and recycling center. The idea is that residents may drop off and pick up items such as toys, sporting goods, tools, furniture and household goods for no charge, resulting in less reusable materials in the landfill.
Cost to the city has been minimal, just the price of the small shed and the rent for a storage trailer. Volunteers will run the shop.
The Swap Shop is located at 60 Rawson Road and is open 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, April through October.
Don’t toss your reusable goods in the garbage! Recycle them with Earth 911.
