Rex Bell, Environmental Field Services Manager for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) won the Clarke Award at a ceremony at PG&E headquarters on Thursday, October 25.

The Sixth Annual Richard A. Clarke Environmental Leadership Award ceremony honors an individual or team whose efforts best demonstrate exceptional environmental leadership. PG&E contributes $5,000 on behalf of Clarke Award recipients to their choice of environmentally oriented nonprofit organizations.

Rex Bell is recognized for collaborating with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) in leading PG&E to become the first utility to join DTSC’s California Take-It-Back Partnership. The program advocates and promotes efforts to recycle Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs (CFLs).

Through Rex’s leadership, PG&E is working with a growing number of partners, including local governments, to effectively combine the message of energy efficiency with the need to properly manage CFLs at the end of their useful life.
