We go through 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps each year. Think about this while you’re in the checkout line.
Shopping bags are a part of your grocery experience. Here’s some options to cut down on bag waste though:
- Bring a canvas bag (or several depending on your load) that can be reused and is more durable
- Give paper and plastic bags a second life by using them to pick up pet waste and lining your trash cans
- Check if your local grocery store will take back paper and plastic bags using Earth 911’s recycling locator
