The Philadelphia Business Journal reports on Coca-Cola investing $2 million in RecycleBank, a program in Pennsylvania that pays households based on the amount of materials they recycle.
RecycleBank partners with over 300 retailers (including Coca-Cola) to offer discounts and credits as a reward for those who recycle. Recycling bins are weighed and tracked with bar codes, and the service is currently available in 50,000 households.
According to the article, the $2 million investment will go toward RecycleBank expanding its program nationally in 2008. For more information on curbside recycling, visit Earth 911’s Recycling page.
