Coca-Cola Says it will Recycle 100 Pct of its Plastic Bottles in the U.S.

Forbes.com features Coca-Cola’s newest announcement on a plastic bottle recycling plant, which would be located in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Coca-Cola previously announced the building of the plant, but without a specific location or opening date specified. The project will cost over $60 million and is on tap to be functional in 2009, and while there’s no mention if non-Coke products will be accepted, the goal is for 100 percent of Coca-Cola bottles to be recycled or reused.
“The plant will produce approximately 100 million pounds of food-grade recycled PET plastic for reuse each year — the equivalent, the company said, of producing nearly two billion 20-ounce Coca-Cola bottles.”
South Carolina appears to be the new spot for opening recycling plants, as Aiken, SC was recently tabbed to open a plant for recycling plutonium.
