Big Red Goes Green

The Business Journal of Phoenix profiles recycling efforts of University of Phoenix Stadium for this year’s Arizona Cardinals games. In partnership with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, the Cardinals will be encouraging fans to recycle both inside and outside the stadium.

“Fans who tailgate in the parking lots will have access to recycling plastic bags to dispose of their paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and glass. The lawn area will have gondolas and recycling trash cans. Recycling bins also will be placed at each entrance to the stadium plaza.”

Because the Cardinals don’t allow outside food or beverage into the stadium, tailgating is a natural outlet for fans looking to avoid concession prices and lines. Tailgate parties will produce a lot of recyclables products, from cans and bottles to packaging to propane.
