New Poll Argues Interest in Environment Not Increasing

KSBI-TV addresses the results of a new Yankelovich survey that shows only 34 percent of consumers are more concerned about environmental issues than a year ago. The survey interviewed over 2,700 people, but did show that businesses taking advantage of the green movement may be on to the right idea.

“If organizations are required to meet strict federal and state environmental regulations — often at huge expense — it makes sense to try and leverage the ‘new and improved’ green product to consumers.”

It appears the survey focused much of its content on climate change, and Yankelovich spokesmen did not specify whether the survey was nationwide or focused on a specific region. Other environmental polls would contradict this information, and keep in mind that this poll addressed a change in concern over the last year, not the last decade.

Is a 34% increase year-over-year necessarily “low”? Seems fairly substantial to me….anyone else?
