Anheuser-Busch Touts Environmental Successes

St. Louis, MO - The nation´s largest brewer recycled more than 27 billion aluminum cans and generated enough renewable energy to heat 25,000 homes in 2006.

Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc. released its 2006 Environmental, Health and Safety report, highlighting its sustainable achievements. Along with recycling and renewable energy generation, the St. Louis-based brewer reduced its solid waste disposal per net sales 11 percent since 2001.

“We are constantly looking for ways to improve our environmental performance by operating more efficiently, eliminating waste and reducing the environmental impacts of our activities,” said John Stier, group director of environmental affairs.

The company has established a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 5 percent by 2010, using 2005 as a baseline. The full report is available at www.abenvironment.com.
