What People Are Saying About Earth911

• I just want to thank you so much for thi site. I have a computer battery that I needed to dispose of but no one (not even the village) knew what to do with it. I found what I needed quickly and called they were taking batteries.Sometimes listing are just another dead end, this one wasn’t I was very pleasantly surprised. I’m also grateful for all the other infomation available at our site. Thanks for this web site. I will tell more people about it. Cindy from Illinois

• Thanx 4 valuable info I couldn’t find anywhere else. So helpful I couldn’t stop reading!

• Thank you to Yellow Book USA for mentioning Earth 911 in your phone book. I was looking for recycling information/options on behalf of the company I work for and because of your ad I found “Earth 911″ with plenty of information.

• Dear Earth 911 - Recently I took an interest in starting to compost. After searching the internet it became apparent that there were many different approaches to creating compost. As luck should have it I settled on following your ” hot compost ” technique.
Last Sunday my partner & I started filling our first compost bin. It took us a good part of the day. We started stock piling organic kitchen scraps some weeks ahead. We had no shortage of leaves since we just moved into a new residence situated on a 2 acre woodland lot that hadn’t been cleaned ( racked ) since the ’80’s. ( We were told by one of our neighbors. ) With a new chipper/shredder as part of our arsenal we had mixed our batches and before long our compost bin was full.

We diligently followed your hot composting advice. The time spent mixing batches was well worth it and the compost bin is working like a charm. Better than I would have ever imagined.

If I had taken the advice of any of the others on the internet I’m sure I would have ended up with nothing but a sludge pile.

The 30:1 ratio you describe is key to success and nowhere else was this a part of the composting formula. I thought the mixing of batches would ” gross ” me out but by the second batch I was mixing it by hand ( with gloves on ) in the wheelbarrow prior to adding it to the compost bin. As a matter of fact we ended up with organic kitchen scraps left over because the advice of other composting sites lead us to believe we needed to stock pile tons of stuff.
Using your method and the amount of organic kitchen scraps we stock piled we could have easily filled 3 bins full using the 30:1 ratio.
Boy would my proportions have been WRONG if I had followed some of the others giving composting advice/methods online.
Regrettably we ended up having to dispose of the excess kitchen scraps because we were only prepared to have one compost bin.

So I am writing to extend my gratitude to those at Earth 911 for sharing their expertise on the subject of composting.

Your hot composting method is exactly what I needed to satisfy my desire to compost quickly, efficiently and odor free.

Thank You for your excellent advice.

Sincerely,

B.G.
