Earth Day May be Over, But Earth 911 Helps “Make Every Day Earth Day™”
Phoenix, AZ—Earth 911, the nation’s portal for local environmental action and information, encourages citizens and businesses to take advantage of Earth 911’s centralized environmental resources for the U.S. and Canada.
Founded 15 years ago, Earth 911 consolidates consumer and business-oriented environmental information from thousands of U.S. and Canadian agencies that offer locations for recycling, reuse and proper disposal resources for common recyclables and household hazardous waste products including used motor oil, paint, mercury, etc.
The Web site also provides beach water quality information and a kids/education area.
“Through Earth 911, citizens and businesses have 24×7 access—at no cost—to the nation’s leading network for recycling, reuse and disposal of everyday household items like cans, plastics, batteries, electronics and more,” said Anne Reichman, Director of Earth 911. “And with our new Programs and Events section, launched on Earth Day, citizens can also search for local environmental events in their community, region or state through a simple ZIP code search.”
Earth 911 Business, a program under Earth 911, assists businesses in reducing waste, creating comprehensive waste reduction plans and implementing recycling programs. The Earth 911 Business program was developed through a partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MA DEP) and Staples, Inc.
