Information Coordinator

Accepting applications for Full-Time and Part-Time positions.

Summary:

  • Research and input large amounts of data for communities, businesses and projects in the U.S. and Canada or a specified region
  • Directly contact and communicate with local environmental coordinators on a daily basis about Earth 911 program information and needs
  • Interact with and support the Earth 911 Director to ensure community/state data on the Earth 911 system is accurate and up-to-date
  • Verify and quality control data received from state/local coordinators through internal and external user interfaces; verify and transfer data to the live Earth 911 system
  • Voice sites for the Earth 911 phone system
  • Provide special project support as requested

Requirements:

  • A sincere interest in the environment welfare and a desire to make a personal difference (environmental background preferred)
  • Be a team player and work in a team environment
  • The ability to self-manage a work load and job responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette
  • The ability to navigate and effectively work with the internal computer system, email, database and other programs utilized
  • The ability to think analytically and provide feedback for continuous improvement of the system
  • Knowledge and use of software programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel and Access

Staff Writer Intern

Earth 911 is seeking a feature writer intern to provide content on the latest environmental news, trends and events. While much of Earth 911’s content is presented in a blog format, the person in this position will develop fully researched documents that would serve as features and/or major content on the Earth 911 Web site.

Summary:

  • Research and write regular content on one of the hottest trends in media today: proper disposal of products
  • Provide a neutral, objective view on environmental issues which coincides with Earth 911 policy
  • Assist in content development for Earth 911 website
  • Conduct interviews with environmental experts for use on Earth 911 website
  • Handle incoming calls regarding potential content on Earth 911

Requirements:

  • Be a junior or senior in college who is majoring in journalism, English or Environmental Science
  • Have a basic knowledge of the environment (e.g. recycling, global warming) and have an interest in writing on such topics
  • Be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Be willing to perform additional office duties as requested
